Hello and welcome to Chez Shea! Marie here. Ten years ago, I moved to the countryside with my partner and three children. Both of us were burnt out from stressful and demanding jobs. We wanted to find a simpler way of life that was meaningful and low impact. I knew that for me, this was going to involve writing, cooking and crafting. Beyond that, the vision was a bit blurred. I didn’t know that it was going to involve setting up a glamping site in what used to be the orchard. I hadn’t realised that gardening was going to be such a big feature of this new lifestyle, or quite how long, the long winter nights really are! This blog is a story of where the path has taken us.

  2. HI, Marie! Thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post on how important laughter is to us. I am enjoying my visit to yours. I like your cool name. I am from Chicago and when I was younger we had a famous nightclub here named Chez Paree. Good luck!

  3. I’m going to echo what lorigreer said. Many people whine and complain, but few have the courage to make such a dramatic life change! It sounds like a great adventure 🙂

  6. Lovely to meet you! I am excited that I fell into your blog. I love to garden and am always, always learning how to make something sprout out of such terrible soil! Moving somewhere different has it’s challenges, but so many rewards. New things and places to explore…and then there’s the food! Best wishes on your venture! Cheers, Koko:)

  7. Hello Marie! The latest episode in my life is very similar to yours. My husband and I recently left London for life in a small town in MA! Its something of a culture shock for a city girl like me but like you, I see a life of baking, crafting, writing and maybe even teaching… Who knows what else country life holds.

I look forward to checking out your blog more and maybe getting some inspiration!
